The Xtreme canopy from CapRax by Rhinoman is made for the BYD Shark dual cab (2025 on). It's built from 2.5mm aluminium, weighs 78kg, carries 250kg dynamic and 500kg static on the roof, and has glass gullwing doors with sliding windows on both sides.

Roof strength

The roof is rated to 250kg dynamic (on the move) and 500kg static (parked). That's enough for a rooftop tent, a roof rack and the gear that goes with them. A Rhinoman canopy has been destruction-tested to over 7.6 tonnes of static load: watch the destruction test.

As with any roof-mounted gear, add up the canopy, rack and load, and check the total is within your vehicle's payload.

Built from aluminium

  • 2.5mm automotive-grade aluminium, TIG welded, with heavy-duty internal gussets and rounded frame corners.
  • Powder-coated in black or white, with black-tinted glass all round.
  • Lighter than a steel canopy, and it won't rust on the coast.

Doors and access

  • Glass gullwing side doors: aluminium frames with bonded toughened glass, on gas struts. Lift one and the whole side of the tub is open, so the fridge, tools and recovery gear are within reach without climbing in.
  • Each side door has a 250mm sliding window, so you can let air through without opening up, which is handy for dogs or anything that needs ventilation.
  • Rear gullwing door with bonded toughened glass in an aluminium frame, and a brake light in the rear window (it needs wiring into the vehicle).
  • Sliding window at the cab end, for airflow and for cleaning the cab's rear window.

Security and sealing

  • Dust-proof, key-alike compression locks, two on each door.
  • A positive-pressure vent at the front pressurises the canopy on the move to keep bulldust out.
  • Automotive-grade EPDM seals on every opening.

Fitting to the BYD Shark

  • Mounts to the BYD Shark's factory mounting points with vehicle-specific brackets, so no drilling is needed.
  • We recommend fitting by a professional fitment centre. Fitting instructions are in the Canopy Fitment tab.

Canopy Accessories

Fit out your canopy with accessories made for it:

Canopy Fitment

We recommend having your canopy fitted by a professional fitment centre. If you fit it yourself, check the installation is safe for your vehicle and follow standard safety precautions throughout.

Download the fitting instructions for your vehicle from our guides and fitment instructions page.

Most CapRax canopies mount to the vehicle's factory mounting points with vehicle-specific brackets, so no drilling is needed. The exceptions are the LandCruiser 70 Series, the RAMs and LX canopies, which bolt through the tub. Check the product page for your vehicle's fitting notes.

Warranty

CapRax canopies by Rhinoman are designed and built to perform for years of work and touring.

  • Xpedition canopies: 2-year manufacturer warranty.
  • Xtreme canopies: 2-year manufacturer warranty.
  • LX canopies: 2-year manufacturer warranty.
  • RAM canopies: 2-year manufacturer warranty.

Please contact us if you need help with your canopy. Replacement parts and windows are readily available, though some may need to come from the manufacturer.

Your canopy's serial number is on the inside of the canopy. Keep a note of it for insurance.

Regular care keeps your canopy performing for years. Our Canopy Care & Maintenance guide (PDF) covers checking the mountings and bolts, looking after the locks, hinges, gas struts and seals, and cleaning and treating the powder coat.

A canopy is best kept on the vehicle. We can't be responsible for damage or water leaks after a canopy has been removed from the vehicle.

To make a claim, return the product at your cost to CapRax, 14 Cessna Street, Marcoola QLD 4564, or to the stockist you bought it from. Include written details of the fault (with photos if possible), proof of purchase, proof of identification and the vehicle details.

The manufacturer's warranty applies to the original purchaser only. If CapRax finds that a canopy is defective in materials or workmanship during the warranty period, we will repair or replace it, at our discretion.

Our canopies come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

This warranty does not cover:

  • failure or damage caused by incorrect or faulty fitting
  • accidental or intentional damage
  • misuse or abuse
  • failure of other products
  • use outside the product's environmental or technical specifications
  • repairs or modifications by anyone other than CapRax or an authorised repair agent
  • external labour or materials not authorised by CapRax

Our canopies are designed for recreational and lifestyle use, not competition. Because of the harsh mining environment, canopies used in mining are warranted for up to 1 year.

Shipping

We aim to offer our customers the most competitive shipping rates for the items they order. Shipping rates are calculated automatically at checkout, based on the items ordered and the delivery address. All shipping rates include in-transit insurance from collection to delivery.

Freight partners

Australia Post: orders with no items over 1.05m or 20kg, within Australia and overseas.

FedEx: courier delivery to a home, business or depot within Australia and overseas.

DHL Express: courier delivery for international orders with items over 1.05m or 20kg.

Home delivery

If you give a residential address for delivery, we assume your items can be left in a safe place at your home if nobody is available to receive them in person. CapRax is not responsible for any loss once delivery is made.

Pickup in store

To save on shipping, select "Pickup In-Store" at checkout.

All items are available for collection from our showroom at CapRax, 14 Cessna Street, Marcoola QLD 4564. For insurance and health and safety reasons, you can't fit your purchase yourself on our premises.

International delivery

Freight costs for international orders exclude customs duties and local sales taxes, which the receiver is responsible for paying. International delivery is available through our website for all items except ute canopies. For a freight quote to deliver a canopy overseas, email us at info@caprax.com.au or call +61 7 5302 6948.

Large items (courier delivery for canopies)

Home delivery

"Home delivery" means delivery to a home or private residence, including where a business is run from the home. For home delivery of canopies, a forklift must be available at the delivery point, with truck access. We will contact you to confirm this. Couriers do not allow unloading by hand, for health and safety reasons. If, as is usually the case, you don't have a forklift at your home address, we can arrange delivery to your nearest FedEx freight depot or agent for you to collect.

Business delivery

If you give a commercial address for delivery of your canopy, a forklift must be available at the delivery point, with truck access. Couriers do not allow unloading by hand, for health and safety reasons.

Depot collection

Collecting from a depot is often the cheapest option for canopies. If you're not sure where your nearest depot is, email us at info@caprax.com.au or call +61 7 5302 6948 for a shipping quote and to place your order.

If you have any questions about shipping, email us at info@caprax.com.au or call +61 7 5302 6948.

Damage in transit

If you, or the person receiving your order, don't check that the item has arrived in good condition before accepting it, CapRax cannot be held responsible for any claim for damage in transit.

When your order arrives, check it thoroughly for any signs of damage before signing to accept it. Check the outside of the packaging, and if there are any signs of damage, open it and examine the product itself. Do this before you sign anything to say the item has been received; the driver needs to wait until you are satisfied. If you are not satisfied with the condition of the item, you are entitled to refuse delivery, and the courier will return the product to us.

If you don't follow this procedure and the item turns out to have been damaged in transit, CapRax has no way to claim on the freight insurance. If you sign anything and are not satisfied, make sure the driver notes this in writing, and get a copy signed by the driver.
