VW Amarok 2023+ Dual Cab Xpedition Canopy
VW Amarok 2023+ Dual Cab Xpedition Canopy - Black isn't in stock right now. Lead time may be up to 8–10 weeks. Call 07 5302 6948 or send an enquiry to check.
The Xpedition canopy from CapRax by Rhinoman is made for the VW Amarok dual cab (2023 on). It's built from 2.5mm aluminium, weighs 74kg, carries 250kg dynamic and 500kg static on the roof, and has solid aluminium gullwing doors on both sides.
Roof strength
The roof is rated to 250kg dynamic (on the move) and 500kg static (parked). That's enough for a rooftop tent, a roof rack and the gear that goes with them. A Rhinoman canopy has been destruction-tested to over 7.6 tonnes of static load: watch the destruction test.
As with any roof-mounted gear, add up the canopy, rack and load, and check the total is within your vehicle's payload.
Built from aluminium
- 2.5mm automotive-grade aluminium, TIG welded, with heavy-duty internal gussets and rounded frame corners.
- Powder-coated in black, white, or a white frame with black doors.
- Lighter than a steel canopy, and it won't rust on the coast.
Doors and access
- Solid aluminium gullwing side doors on gas struts, each opening 1163mm wide. Lift one and the whole side of the tub is open, so the fridge, tools and recovery gear are within reach without climbing in.
- With no glass in the side doors there's less to break and nothing on show, which suits tools and valuables.
- Rear gullwing door with bonded toughened glass in an aluminium frame, and a brake light in the rear window (it needs wiring into the vehicle).
- Sliding window at the cab end, for airflow and for cleaning the cab's rear window.
Security and sealing
- Dust-proof, key-alike compression locks, two on each door.
- A positive-pressure vent at the front pressurises the canopy on the move to keep bulldust out.
- Automotive-grade EPDM seals on every opening.
Fitting to the Amarok
- Mounts to the Amarok's factory mounting points with vehicle-specific brackets, so no drilling is needed.
- J-brace: Amaroks built from 2024 have the J-brace fitted at the factory. On 2023 builds, VW's J-brace kit may be needed before fitting; we'll confirm when you enquire.
- We recommend fitting by a professional fitment centre. Download the fitting instructions (PDF) to share with your fitter.
Fit it out
- On the roof: twin 1200mm M8 roof channels, 930mm apart, take the Explorer Roof Rack, Heavy Duty Load Bars or the 1200mm Load Bar Set, for a rooftop tent, awning or solar panels.
- Inside: built-in nutserts and extruded channels take the Utility Full Shelf and Utility Half Shelf, the Canopy Storage Rack with Pull-Out Slides, the Drop-Down Canopy Table and MOLLE Panels. They bolt in with no cutting or drilling.
Who it suits
Tradies who want tools locked away behind solid doors during the week. Weekend campers who keep the fridge, swags and recovery gear loaded and ready to go. Tourers running a rooftop tent on the canopy for months at a time.
Prefer glass side doors with sliding windows? See the VW Amarok 2023+ Dual Cab Xtreme Canopy.
Before you buy
- Check your Amarok is a 2023-on dual cab, and when it was built (see the J-brace note). For the 2010–2022 model, see the VW Amarok 2010–2022 Dual Cab Xpedition Canopy.
- Check your vehicle's payload covers everything you plan to carry.
- Popular colours are often in stock for pickup from our showroom in Marcoola on the Sunshine Coast; others are ordered in. We ship nationwide.
- Order online, send an enquiry or call 07 5302 6948 to check stock and lead time. Also available through authorised stockists Australia-wide.
Care and maintenance
A few minutes of care keeps your canopy secure, dust-tight and looking sharp. Check the mountings and bolts shortly after fitting and after long runs on corrugated roads, lubricate the locks with graphite powder only (never grease or WD-40), and wash the powder coat with a pH-neutral car wash. Everything you need is in our Canopy Care & Maintenance guide (PDF).

We aim to offer our customers the most competitive shipping rates for the items they order. Shipping rates are calculated automatically at checkout, based on the items ordered and the delivery address. All shipping rates include in-transit insurance from collection to delivery.
Freight partners
Australia Post: orders with no items over 1.05m or 20kg, within Australia and overseas.
FedEx: courier delivery to a home, business or depot within Australia and overseas.
DHL Express: courier delivery for international orders with items over 1.05m or 20kg.
Home delivery
If you give a residential address for delivery, we assume your items can be left in a safe place at your home if nobody is available to receive them in person. CapRax is not responsible for any loss once delivery is made.
Pickup in store
To save on shipping, select "Pickup In-Store" at checkout.
All items are available for collection from our showroom at CapRax, 14 Cessna Street, Marcoola QLD 4564. For insurance and health and safety reasons, you can't fit your purchase yourself on our premises.
International delivery
Freight costs for international orders exclude customs duties and local sales taxes, which the receiver is responsible for paying. International delivery is available through our website for all items except ute canopies. For a freight quote to deliver a canopy overseas, email us at info@caprax.com.au or call +61 7 5302 6948.
Large items (courier delivery for canopies)
Home delivery
"Home delivery" means delivery to a home or private residence, including where a business is run from the home. For home delivery of canopies, a forklift must be available at the delivery point, with truck access. We will contact you to confirm this. Couriers do not allow unloading by hand, for health and safety reasons. If, as is usually the case, you don't have a forklift at your home address, we can arrange delivery to your nearest FedEx freight depot or agent for you to collect.
Business delivery
If you give a commercial address for delivery of your canopy, a forklift must be available at the delivery point, with truck access. Couriers do not allow unloading by hand, for health and safety reasons.
Depot collection
Collecting from a depot is often the cheapest option for canopies. If you're not sure where your nearest depot is, email us at info@caprax.com.au or call +61 7 5302 6948 for a shipping quote and to place your order.
If you have any questions about shipping, email us at info@caprax.com.au or call +61 7 5302 6948.
Damage in transit
If you, or the person receiving your order, don't check that the item has arrived in good condition before accepting it, CapRax cannot be held responsible for any claim for damage in transit.
When your order arrives, check it thoroughly for any signs of damage before signing to accept it. Check the outside of the packaging, and if there are any signs of damage, open it and examine the product itself. Do this before you sign anything to say the item has been received; the driver needs to wait until you are satisfied. If you are not satisfied with the condition of the item, you are entitled to refuse delivery, and the courier will return the product to us.
If you don't follow this procedure and the item turns out to have been damaged in transit, CapRax has no way to claim on the freight insurance. If you sign anything and are not satisfied, make sure the driver notes this in writing, and get a copy signed by the driver.
